GATEWAY OF INDIA: Built to commemorate the visit of the first ever British Monarch, King George V and Queen Mary in 1911, was a white plaster arch, which was later changed to the carved yellow basalt Gateway.
The Gateway was built by the architect George Wittet. The statues of patriot Shivaji and Swami Vivekananda on the square, before the Gateway, enhances the scene.
